Highlander Untamed (MacLeods of the Skye Trilogy #1)
Genre: Historical Romance
Rory MacLeod is a bold and powerful Highland Chief with only one allegiance–to his clan. He vows revenge against the rival MacDonald clan, though duty demands a handfast marriage to Isabel MacDonald–a bride he does not want and has no intention of keeping. But Rory couldn’t have anticipated the captivating woman who challenges his steely control, and unleashes the untamed passion simmering beneath his fierce exterior.
Blessed with incomparable beauty, Isabel MacDonald is prepared to use every means possible–including seduction–to uncover her husband’s most guarded secrets. Instead Rory awakens Isabel’s deepest desires and her sweetest fantasies. Now Isabel has found the happiness she’s always dreamed of with the very man she must betray, and discovers that passion can be far more dangerous than revenge.
It didn’t really float my boat but it kept my interest through-out. I found myself skimming over some parts of the story, mostly at the start. I didn’t like Rory at the beginning at all, he was arrogant and oppressive, however as he softened toward Isabel you got to see his gentler side and caring side especially when it came to his family and Margaret. I loved how Isabel found her first real true friend in Margaret just as Margaret found happiness and self-confidence from being around Isabel. Though he was harsh, I like the way it was written with Rory handling the Isabel betrayal situation with not giving her a chance to explain at first, it ruins a book when the characters don’t react realistically to situations and automatically are calm and forgiving. Isabel is a tenacious character and she wouldn’t give up until Rory heard her side of the story and her reason which I also enjoyed about the book. Over all it was an okay read though I am neither a historical romance fan, nor a fan of the highlander genre I just couldn’t get really into the story and it didn’t enthral me.
