Question of the Week

"What book were you reading when you read your first sex scene?"

Technically the first sex scene I read was in the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer in the book Breaking Dawn, very PG and non-descriptive due to its young-adult target audience. However the first true, hot and steamy, adult book with a real sex scene was in the book Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, the first book of her Sookie Stackhouse series.

This series is really what got me off the young-adult novels and into the more adult reads. This series is to blame for my discovery of my favourite series of all time, The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, and my obsession with it that if you have been following me you would be well aware of by now hehe The Sookie Stackhouse series really changed my point of few of sex in books, before the series when I thought of sex scenes in books I would think of Mills & Boon or "heaving chests" and "I cannot lay with you for my father will disown me" *cue dramatic sigh and swoon* type situations, the series really opened my eyes and mind to different possibilities in books that are more my style.

You know, I still have NOT read any of the Sookie Stackhouse books! I feel like such a traitor to my readers, LOL! Thanks for participating!

I haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse series or JR Ward yet. Although a lot of people love them.

Yeah, I read the Twilight one too but wouldn't class it as a sex scene. It too PG as you say. I even find sookie's sex a lil PG for my liking. LOL

Not a Twilight fan, but I love the Sookie Stackhouse series and the Black Dagger Brotherhood?! Sweet Jesus!!!! Too hot to handle, but you can't miss them. But I think my first one was some old book I read in the sixth grade and I can't remember the name of it LOL! I know, I am bad LOL! But I was so young, I couldn't really comprehend what was going on LOL! My first real one as an adult was Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen M. Moning. Sexy highlander in a kilt=Epic WIN! Great post hon, thanks for sharing :)

Yep those BDB men know how to get the job done ;P
I didn't care much for reading as a kid, only a goosebump book here and there. With school forcing students to read and analyse everything to the letter I lost interest and didn't like reading at all, it is only when I left school and could read for the enjoyment of it that my book love really took-off. Thank-you for sharing and commenting, I appreciate it :)

@Jet - I love the BDB! I can't wait for Tohr's book. Although I am scared that his book is the only one that doesn't have a female on the cover. Still, I want it. LOL! I am so with you. I was great in English, but I am with you. I stopped because of all the analyzing and picking paragraphs apart. I think that is what made me stop. Even though some I did have to real for school were pretty good, still doesn't compare to what I read now. Thanks so much for the great post again and you are most welcome for the comment hon :)

Tohr is my favourite brother, even though we don'tknow that much about him yet. I cannot wait to get my hands on his book next year *drool* Though I have to say, I'm not keen on who is picked for his HEA. Maybe the more we find out about her the more I will warm up to the idea lol The schooling system needs to find a better way to approach the reading and analysis side to the english programs. Thanks for stopping by and the kind words :D

@Jet - Zsadist and Vishous are my favs, but I still love them all so much. I disagree though, I am actually pretty excited for who Ward chose for Tohr. I think they will have a lot in common and I was always curious about No'One. They both need saving and they can do that for each other. But I know you aren't the only one that feels that way and it is like you said, people need to know her more. I can't wait for his book. Ward said we are going to get a lot of reveals in this one. YAY!!!!

I agree about schools needing to change the reading programs. I use to have honors and AP English, so it was more brutal LOL! But thank God I don't have to put up with that anymore LOL!

You are so welcome again hon :)

I think I am a little biased when it comes to Tohr which is why I am hesitant about the Tohr/No'one relationship, just have to wait and see I guess. Hurry up next year! haha Where's a time machine when you need one.

I am so glad the school days are behind me as well, got out with my wits intact! lol

@Jet - I see where you are coming from with that. But I am still pretty exciting. It will be nice to see Tohr in love again. I know I am not the only one who was crushed when he lost Wellsie. I say, read the series before the next book. I hope to do that, it will be good for me LOL!

I am so with you. I am happy high school is behind me too. Still got my brains too and everything I remember is mainly from my Math and English classes LOL! We both made it out alive LOL!
