The Dragon Who Loved Me By G.A. Aiken

The Dragon Who Loved Me (The Dragon Kin #5)

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Description:
I was raised for battle. And as the first daughter of a warrior family, I’ve earned my reputation the hard way. Yet now I fight alongside uncivilized male Northland dragons who think a female is only good for breeding and waiting back home in the cave. But it’s the foolish and foolhardy who would try to stop me, Rhona the Fearless, from doing what I do best—destroying the enemies of my kind.

So the smartest thing wily barbarian Vigholf the Abhorrent can do for me is stay out of my way as we risk all on a deadly mission in enemy territory. I don’t care if he’s fascinated by me, even though he is as attractive as he is resourceful. He’s having far too much fun putting me in difficult situations and testing my sense of duty to the limit. And I’m going to enjoy challenging his insufferable confidence, outwitting his schemes, and making him surrender in the wildest ways…

Review

Rhona is a warrior dragon from the Southlands with a reputation of being born to kill and let me tell you, she is one bad-ass fighter. Vigholf, a Northlander Dragon likes Rhona’s fire, her sparky nature though Rhonda cannot stand him, he has a bit of a battle on his hands to try and win her over, this part made me laugh;

“She stepped around him and he turned to follow, but her tail suddenly lashed out, aiming for his eye. Vigholf stumbled back and Rhonda, glaring over her shoulder at him, snapped, "And stop following me around.”

“I wasn’t. Just...Keeping an eye on you. These caves can be dangerous.”

“The day a She-dragon can’t move around a cave as she likes is the day she should climb onto the funeral pyre.”

“Or you could just have an escort.”

Her brown eyes nearly rolled to the back of her head, but before she could say another word, they both heard her name.”

When Rhona’s cousin Keita asked her to accompany her on a mission of sorts, Vigholf decided to tag along, much to her dismay. That is where the two really connect with each other and grow to love each other. I really enjoyed the banter between Vigholf and Rhona, but that was pretty much all I really liked about the book, that and the steam of course, I just couldn’t get into it in any other means. I’m not much for reads set in different times so I think that is what effected my enjoyment of the book, though for those who like a paranormal edge to their historical romances this would be a good pick. I wouldn’t read it again as it wasn’t for my taste, but it wasn’t a bad book by any stretch, on the lower end of three stars bordering on two and a half stars for me.
