Turnaround: A Red Hot Valentine Story By Cassandra Carr

Turnaround: A Red Hot Valentine Story

*Submitted for review by author*

Genre: Valentines/Romance/ Short

Description:

Becca and James don't date. Both are in their thirties and neither has found anyone they feel is potential spouse material. Becca attends a "We Hate Valentine's Day" party at a local bar where James is bartending. He knows from the first day they meet that Becca is someone special, but Becca's more cautious. James sets out to prove to Becca there really are happy-ever-afters.

Review

Definitely one of the better Valentines themed reads out there. I don’t tend to like “holiday” themed reads as I can find them to be quite cheesy and all the same but I quite enjoyed this one. Though it was only a short read you get plenty of story and information so you don’t feel like anything has been left out and it didn’t feel rushed at all.

I liked how James and Becca didn’t jump into bed together from the first meeting, but took things slow and enjoyed just being in each other’s company. Becca and James’s dorky-ness was probably what I loved the most about the characters, it was adorable and endearing. Cassandra Carr always manages to write interesting, enthralling characters that suck you in and make you wish for their happiness right until the end.

This is an ideal read for those who like romance with a bit of spice that isn’t over the top. I’d give this read four stars.

Bring On The Heat By Eden Bradley, Cassandra Carr, Stephanie Julian, Amber Kallyn, Keira Kohl, Adriana Kraft, Emma Lai, Anh Leod, Ann Mayburn, Cari Quinn

Bring On The Heat

*Submitted for review by author*

Genre: Erotic Shorts

Description:

A collection of erotic tales from today’s hottest authors, featuring BDSM love stories, ménage romps, and everything in between. No matter what your taste in erotic romance, we’ve got you covered and then some! Warning: These stories may require readers to seek out a cold drink and a hot man.

Review

Let me start off by saying that any collection of reads that has Cassandra Carr in the line up is going to be a winner; I knew that right from the start. Every little story is filled with heat that will steamy up your screen and enough story to keep you interested and leaving you wanting to read more.

Some of the more notable shorts that I enjoyed more than the others were; Breaking Skye, Caught, An Indecent Proposition parts 1&2, 2 ended with such a cliff-hanger that I found quite cruel, I need a third part; and First Kiss which I especially loved for the role reversal of the female being the dominant and the male being the submissive.

Possibly one of the most heated of the reads I found to be Cherry Tune-Up, there are some f/f scenes in this particular short so if that isn’t too your liking then you might want to skip over it. Over all this selection of stories surpassed my expectations and I’d very much recommend anyone who loves a good steamy read with BDSM to give this collection a look over. I’d give this selection as a whole a solid 4 stars.

Breakdown of my ratings for each read:

Breaking Skye by Eden Bradley: 5/5
Caught by Cassandra Carr: 5/5
An Indecent Proposition Part 1 by Stephanie Julian: 5/5
An Indecent Proposition Part  2 by Stephanie Julian: 5/5
Burned by Amber Kallyn: 3.5/5
Laundry day by Keira Kohl : 3/5
Cherry-tune up by Adriana Kraft: 4.5/5
Riding rodeo by Emma Lai: 5/5
Clockwork Captive by Anh Leod: 3.5/5
First Kiss by Ann Mayburn: 5/5
Jingle Ball by Cari Quinn: 3.5/5

Guest Post
A-DARK CRAVINGS-Blog Tour presented by Madeline Pryce

Thank you Book Devotee Reviews for having me on your blog today!

Today, we are at the bar with Richard. He’s a liar and a dickhead.

ROLE
Head of the Shadow Agency. Oh, and he may or may not be Micah’s dad.

FAVORITE QUOTE/SCENE
“There seems to be a great many details you’ve left out in your report. I didn’t know I needed to bring a stake with me. How long has she been a full-fledged vampire? And how long have you been the blood whore’s play thing?”

“Is there something you actually wanted, Father?” Substitute the word father with asshole, because that was what I knew Micah really meant.

“I find your lack of respect appalling, son.” Richard said son, yet I knew he meant ungrateful brat. Touché.

PREFERRED BEVERAGE
Jack and Coke

CHARACTER INSPIRATION
The picture is explanation enough…

CHARACTER INSPIRED COCKTAIL/SHOOTER
Black Devil Martini—Dark rum and a black olive garnish give this martini its midnight hue, a color as dark as Richard’s soul.

BLACK DEVIL MARTINI

2 oz dark rum
1/2 oz dry vermouth
Black olives
Orange sugar

Stir and strain into chilled martini glass that has been rimmed with orange sugar (dip glass in water, then dip into sugar). Garnish with black olives.

BLURB

As a half-breed vampire, Ella Grey’s life sucks. She does her best to pass the time killing demons and secretly admiring her Shadow Hunter partner, Micah. He’s hot, dangerous and
knows it. He’d be just Ella’s type if he weren’t likely to kill her the moment she put a toe out of line.

A chance encounter with a succubus changes everything. From the second the succubus’s spell washes over them, Ella and Micah are helpless to keep their hands off one another. The sex, when it’s not leaving them on the verge of death, is earth shattering and for the first time in ages Ella is connected with someone on a level she’d feared lost forever. But a dangerous prophecy has been set into motion, and if Ella’s not careful it’ll pull her straight from Micah’s arms and into the deepest bowels of the underworld.

A Romantica® Paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Tenley is cautious about trusting anyone. After being betrayed by her mother and her ex-boyfriend, her defenses are up, or at least she thought they were. But Jayden breaks through her walls, making her feel safe and protected. He has the power to consume her - mind and body.

Jayden Matthews knew it the second he saw her. Tenley Clarkson belonged in his life; this beautiful woman who is hiding a world of pain and fear in her eyes. He feels the need to protect her, to make her happy. The smile on her face and the soft sound of her voice exhilarated him and calmed him all at once. He had never felt more alive.

As they explore Paris together, Jayden takes Tenley to places she'd only dreamed of. Gives her moments she couldn't imagine. A single moment of intense connection unfolds into love.

It was only one moment. But that's all it takes. As tragedy strikes and threatens to tear them apart, can Tenley learn to trust and love? Can Jayden prove that he will fight for her? Or will he betray her like she has been her whole life?

One moment is all it takes to change your life, to meet someone, to fall in love. One Moment is all it takes, to shatter your world completely, taking away everything you never knew you needed....

Danielle Wright was born in California, but raised in Colorado where she currently resides. She has one younger brother and is close to her family. She loves to read, and has had that passion from a very young age, love stories always being her favorite. She has always loved telling stories and often found herself making up her own stories to tell. Danielle loves the idea that a story, even for just a little while, takes the reader away from everyday life and puts them in a world that they could only dream of. She truly believes that a good book will stay with you and even has the power to change your life. Once she decided to no longer let fear get in her way, Danielle began to bring her dream worlds to life, first as an escape for herself and then, hoping that someday, someone, somewhere, will find their escape in her world.

Danielle values her family and friends above anything else. When she is not reading or writing you can find her hanging out with her family, watching football, The Voice, Greys Anatomy, Sons of Anarchy or going to the movies or concerts with friends. She is a huge country music fan, although her favorite band is Maroon 5 and she has a major crush on Adam Levine. She loves anything Disney, and still believes in magic, fairy tales and true love. She wants her readers to remember to smile, nothing horrible lasts forever. Also, that every moment is important because you never know which moment is going to change your life.
